UPDATE - Hat Trick Auction - Feb 5th @ 6:00 PM
2010-01-25
LOCAL YOUTH HOCKEY PLAYERS NEEED YOUR SUPPORT !
Greetings Hockey Families and Friends!
With less than two weeks before the annual Hat Trick Auction, February 5, make sure you get your reservations so that you won't miss this lively and fun fundraiser.
More than half of the tables have been reserved, and your presence is desired, so pick up the phone and call Rick Bresnahan, 236-2655, or e-mail
rickb4@myfairpoint.net.
The auction benefits Maine Coast Skaters Association Youth Hockey, the Midcoast Ice Cats and the Camden Hills Regional High School Windjammers. The home ice of all three organizations is at Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport, where hockey players from fledgling Atoms to mighty Midgets spend fun-filled winters chasing the puck, building strong teams, and learning good sportsmanship.
This year, the auction will take place at the
Elks Club on Rankin Street in Rockland, beginning at
6 p.m. with a silent auction. A buffet meal will be served at approximately 7:15 p.m., after which the live auction begins. Because the Samoset Resort, which has generously provided a ballroom for us in the past, is closed this winter, the auction location is moving to this warm lodge (see map). Auctioneer Rosey Gerry, who was honored in November by the Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce for demonstrating outstanding service to a wide variety of community organizations, will again help the three hockey organizations raise the necessary money to keep players on the ice. The night's goal remains at
$30,000, as it has in years past.
There will be childcare provided at the
Rockland Recreation Center from
6 to 9:30 p.m., a volunteer effort spearedheaded by Julie Madden, an elementary school teacher who also has two boys playing between the Ice Cats, Bantams and PeeWees. She will be helped by other parents and teenagers, and the evening for the children will include games, movies, stories and snacks. There will be a sign-up sheet at bulletin board at the rink; please include your number and e-mail address so Julie can be in touch with you. Or, e-mail her at
madden@midcoast.com. The Rec Center is less than a mile from the Elks Club across the street from the Knox County Courthouse.
Auction tickets cost $35 per person, and there will be a cash bar.
Please plan on attending this annual event that brings together the three tightly-knit organizations, their children, parents, extended family, alumnae, and hockey fans. Ice hockey in the Midcoast builds not only community that bridges town and city lines, but lifelong friendships forged on the strongest of ice.
