Street Hockey Kids...
Coaching Applications, NEW USA Hockey Locker Room Supervision Policy, Background Checks, Comp C League....Hello MCSA Youth Hockey Players and Families,
It’s time to start thinking about Ice Hockey! The planning has started and before you know it they’ll be making ice at MRC.
COACHING APPLICATIONS
The primary purpose of this email is to distribute the letter
(see below) from John Magri (MCSA Coaching Director) requesting that coaching applications for the 2010-11 season be submitted on or before
Monday, August 23rd.
Whether you are a coach from previous seasons or you would like to apply for the first time, we are equally happy to receive your application. If you have the ability please consider joining the ranks of our amazingly talented and dedicated volunteer coaches.
NEW - USA HOCKEY LOCKER ROOM SUPERVISION POLICY
We have recently learned about a new locker room supervision policy that has been adopted by USA Hockey which will be strictly enforced at MCSA and all Maine State Youth Hockey Associations.
CLICK HERE to read more about the new policy.
Our youth hockey players and their families need to know that we are providing them with a safe environment to play hockey. Please help the MCSA volunteers satisfy this need by cooperating as we implement new procedures to assure our children’s safety.
BACKGROUND SCREENING
If you are a coach, a volunteer that supervises the locker rooms or a board member, you are required to have a current background check in place before the season gets underway. There are absolutely
NO exceptions.
CLICK HERE to get this detail taken care of ASAP if you plan to volunteer in these roles.
Fees will be reimbursed.
COMP C LEAGUE
The MEAHA associations, ourselves included, are in the process of forming the foundation of a “Comp C League” which is the evolution of what we have always referred to as “House Hockey” for Squirts, PeeWees and Bantams. The big difference is the establishment of a standings system (game results) that will be used to determine if a team qualifies for a State Comp C Championship Tournament at the end of the season.
The finer details are still being worked out to be sure there is fairness and balance throughout the state. Travel requirements will be similar if not identical to previous years. More details will be released as they become available.
Sorry about all the technical stuff. Youth Ice Hockey is a blast to play, watch and support as a volunteer.
Enjoy the second half of your summer…but keep a hockey stick nearby at all times!
GO STORM !!!

Please return a completely filled out application no later than
Monday, August 23rd.
The league is requiring background checks for all coaches, assistant coaches, and basically anybody that steps on the ice, on the bench and in the locker room this year. This also goes hand in hand with the policy that there must always be two adults with background checks in the locker room at all times.
It is imperative that you return an application before the deadline so that we can select a team of coaches and have all of the background checks complete in time for the season.
So please take a couple of minutes of the next couple of weeks and complete an application. We have a great team of volunteers and it would be a shame to let paperwork get in the way of a successful season.
I look forward to receiving the applications and working with everybody again this year.
John Magri
